Dear friends motor home drivers,

Via your clubs or of your federations, you all been part of the big family of the FICM, but probably some among you wonder what this FICM and which work achieves it. I decided, today, to address to each of you in order to break this little rigid structure which could generate incomprehension.

The FICM was founded in 1976 in order to defend the interests of the motor home drivers and only of those, to support the contacts between all the users of European motor homes. The site of the FICM www.ficm-aisbl.eu can give you some additional information.

But our work does not stop there. These last years, we had several contacts with the European commission, located in Brussels, in order to discuss the weights and the driving licenses relating to the motor homes, and the dialog continues…

For several years, we had wished to integrate the big family of FIA (International federation of the Car) with whom our weight with respect to the authorities would be notably improved. We succeeded there! Chart CCI with our logo is the proof.

We also have regular contacts with certain manufacturers to whom we can explain our problems of weight and safety.

Our work group meets twice a year, the subjects of discussions are multiple and we always seek a unanimous solution with our problems because, at the base of all, there is a concept of solidarity which animates us.

It is not easy to find a total assent between motor home drivers, for example Italian and German, each one among us gives, with its concerns, different priorities.

You know well that everywhere in Europe there are detractors of the motor home, people who wish our division with dissensions or disagreements. Unfortunately there are still areas which did not include/understand the potentiality of motor home. It is well the reason for which we must be plain, interdependent, effective.

The bodies of administration of the FICM work absolutely voluntarily. Each one among us made motor home his passion, its hobby, and it is in this spirit that we ahead in order to will make you benefit from our results.

At the time of EuroCC, you have all the possibility of taking part in the Forum of the general meeting and of putting your questions. I invite you to be regularly present there.

Some members emitted some criticisms towards the FICM, but they don’t delegated people to take an active part, neither with our work meetings, nor at our general meetings. It is obviously easier in this case to criticize without daring to present itself.

Lastly, all the positions within the FICM are opened with all the associates, which will have been presented by their federations or their clubs. To belong to a body of administration is an activity interesting and enriching.
